M LA MÈRE [English Version]

M la Mère is not a character or an artist: she is an artwork.

The M la Mère project was created by the desire of explore several issues about sexuality, the relation between male and female and questions involving gender identity. Also, the project was created in order to defend the Drag Queen as an artistic expression.

Based on that, M la Mère was an artwork.

Alongside this project, I created the Portrait-self-performatives (2014): basically consists of invading the opening of an exhibition and establish yourself as an artwork.

M la Mère died a few months ago, the day she met the coyote collective, at the skatepark, where the girls from the House of Frida were beaten by the police. It happened on the same day that a heterosexual man broke her heel and the no-band Algodão Choque was searched by police (the car was stopped with a gun shot).
